Try It Out Tuesday - Seventh Generation Free & Clear All Purpose Cleaner

As a very busy SAHM of a baby and a toddler, when something spills, I rarely have time to investigate the nature of the mess, take in to consideration the special needs of the surface on which the mess has occurred, select the appropriate cleaning solution and tend to said mess before stains set in and/or one of my children makes it worse. This is why I need a reliable multi-purpose cleaner on hand that won’t damage anything in my home, no matter what I need to use it on. In addition, I demand cleaning products that I can safely use around my children without fear of poisoning and/or fume inhalation.

These are the reasons I love Seventh Generation Free & Clear All Purpose Cleaner. It’s safe on all surfaces, including fabric. I use it on my counters, the floor, the bathroom fixtures, the entertainment center, the couch, and on the highchair. I love the fact that it doesn’t leave streaks on the faucets in the bathrooms, or in the kitchen sink (streaks are pet peeves of mine). I really love the fact that I only need to buy one bottle to care for all of these surfaces!

Seventh Generation always displays all of the ingredients (which are derived from renewable resources, by the way) in their products on the back of the packaging to give their customers the peace of mind of knowing exactly what they’re working with. None of the elements in this cleaner are tested on animals or animal derived. There are no dyes, perfumes, or phosphates involved at all.

I would like to note, however, that although technically safe for use on all surfaces, I prefer not to use it on wood; personally, I use a specialized wood cleaner or to make my own.

The warning label on the back of the bottle literally states that if you ingest any of the cleaner, you should drink a glass of water! That’s it! Not call the poison control center, not rush to the emergency room. Just drink some water. How comforting is that!? Not that I’m in the habit of leaving cleaning products lying around where Bootsie Baby can grab and guzzle them, but in the event that the bottle fell into one of her thousand grasping claws, I know she’d be okay. And as a mother, I feel secure knowing that I’m not killing her by wafting chemicals all through her home.

Sounds great, right? It is! I highly recommend this product!

On Tuesdays, I will be offering my readers reviews of "green" products I've discovered that will help should anyone decide to take steps toward adopting a green lifestyle. As I have no sponsors, you can rest assured that my reviews are honest and unbiased.

I've heard many good things about Seventh Generation, but haven't yet tried the products. I think I will once my current cleaner is used up.

Also, this could just be my browser settings, but your posts are a bit cut off on the right.

I can e-mail you a picture of a screenshot, if you'd like to see what I'm seeing. Just get in touch!

Thanks for leaving comments on my blogs! :-) I'm so glad you did - your blog is an absolute ROARING good time.

Tho why you ran from the fairy-Bear-Gryll I shall never know. Around our house two certain females (one young, one not so young) would just fall to the floor (er, ground) in awe.

Long as we didn't have to oh, swim with crocodiles with him, I suppose.

Can you tell we've been re-watching season 1 of MvW on DVD this past week? heh heh.

Thanks again for the comment luvs. Hope your daughter is feeling better REALLY soon. :-)

I'm a big fan of Simple Green because it's chemical-free also. I've never heard of this product, but I think I'll check it out. It's great that you have a chemical-free environment for your little ones. I didn't realize how bad Lysol, ect. were when mine were little. Better late than never I quess;)

Thanks for stopping by my blog!

What a neat blog. I'm OCD too and like a schedule but it gets hard somedays. I've tried this brand and personally, don't care for it. I've found a better one that works well for all surfaces. The only product of theirs I liked was the paper towel and toilet bowl cleaner.

Sounds like a great cleaner! I've used Seventh Generation laundry detergent and dish detergent but not their cleaner. We have been using Thieves Household Cleaner, which is all natural also.

I love this product, too! And your blog -- from the title to the hilarious picture from college dorm life to the adorable pics of your girls!

So glad you left a comment on my blog yesterday. I've enjoyed reading yours!

I also have a green blog, and I just did a post on sunscreens that you might want to read. (It is about protecting kids from chemicals.):

I've seen the free and clear at the commissary but haven't bought it yet. I bought the S.G. bleach the other day... eh, it's not doing a thing. I will be giving the cleaner a try, because dang it but if we don't go through a lot of cleaner at my house! And I'd rather not have my kids continue breathing tons of fumes. I am a little addicted to Meyer's though...
