The Traveling Circus Comes To Town

This weekend, we were the grateful recipients of an impromptu visit from my sister-in-law and her family. They had been on a camping trip and encountered some unfortunate weather, so we invited them to come spend the night at our house! It was such a pleasant surprise to have everyone over!

We haven’t seen them since Sweet Pea was born, so it was exciting for the kids to get reacquainted. We played together in our “yard” and went out for dinner. It was a blast! When the little ones were asleep, the grown-ups banded together for a rousing session of Wii tennis. (Note that I did not say, “An intense, competitive, showcase of athletic and electronic proficiency." Maybe next time.) What a great weekend surprise!

I was feeling bad about the fact that their family trip was ruined by thunderstorms, so I had a fun surprise in mind: just to keep the “camping” feel for the weekend, my sister actually allowed me to serve “indoor,” a.k.a. microwave, s’mores to her kids for breakfast! I don’t know many moms who would actually agree to that!

We were sad to see them go so quickly, but were thankful for the time we were able to spend together. For more zany episodes from this traveling circus’ daily escapades, check out Life At the Circus!

What a terrific surprise to this week-end. Sometimes impromptu works out for the best. Great photo.

We had a super-duper time!! I was so touched that you went to all that trouble to get us smores. What a sweet auntie you are! I had a blast playing ball with Bootsie Baby and getting to hold dear, Sweet Pea. We have really missed you guys and it was so good to spend time together. :-)
